FRANKLIN RECOGNIZED IN PUBLIC INFORMATION CONTEST 

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, New Jersey—December 15, 2006—The Township of Franklin was awarded “Special Recognition for Print” for their quarterly newsletter, The Franklin Times, in the 45th annual Municipal Public Information Contest.

The contest was sponsored by the New Jersey Municipal Management Association, New Jersey State League of Municipalities and Rutgers University Center for Government Services.
The award recognized that the newsletter was an “outstanding component of the municipality’s overall public information program, the efforts made to invite participation and to keep the community informed of the activities undertaken by the municipality. These efforts are indicative of a jurisdiction that values the involvement of the members of the community in the process of governance.”

This is the second year Franklin has been cited. In 2005 the Township received “best overall’’ in public information. Township Manager Kenneth Daly said  “The Council, administration and staff consider it an important mission to keep the residents informed  and involved in their government.”
