Falling Leaves—Use Them Or Bag Them


The Township annual leaf collection program information follows. But one alternative for dealing with leaves is backyard composting. Composting results in a dark, friable, partially decomposed substance similar to natural organic matter found in the soil The end product can be added to enrich the soil, used as mulch to control weeds, used in potting soil, and can help reduce alternate freezing and thawing of soils which injure roots of plans. Annual Leaf Collection


Annual leaf collection dates are Mondays
October 25
November 1, 8, 15, 22, 29
Leaf bags are available at the Municipal Clerk’s office in the Municipal Building, 475 DeMott Lane, and at the Department of Public Works, 40 Churchill Avenue. They are 50 cents each. Stickers for store-bought brown paper biodegradable leaf bags are 25 cents each. Senior citizens pay 25 for leaf bags, up to a maximum of 40 bags.
