FRANKLIN’S FLOOD MITIGATION STATUS REPORT AVAILABLE
FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, New Jersey—September 13, 2010—The Franklin Township Flood Mitigation Plan status report is available on the Township website, www.franklintwpnj.org, and in Engineering in the Municipal Building, 475 DeMott Lane, Somerset.
The Township Council adopted a Flood Mitigation Plan and the Somerset County Multi-Jurisdictional Multi-Hazard Plan. Both documents contained recommendations on how to lower the risk and impact of flooding the Township. Several steps have already been taken by the Township, and these are outlined in the status report issued September 13.
Because of the Township’s effort, the Federal Emergency Management Association (FEMA) notified the Township that residents who apply for flood insurance will be eligible for discounts up to 15 (15%) percent.
