About Franklin Township

Franklin Township – It’s All Here. 
Centrally located at the crossroads of Middlesex, Mercer and Somerset Counties, Franklin Township is 46.5 square miles of pristine, rural suburban and cosmopolitan environments in one expansive landscape. Originally home to the Raritan Indians, Franklin became home to Dutch Settlers in 1650, and is believed to have been named after Benjamin Franklin.

Franklin boasts an educated, diverse and prosperous population of 50, 903 with an average age of 36 – a population that has increased 5% since 1990. Franklin residents have access to a solid level of consumer spending ability, with an average household income of $86,200 (as of 2007) and median home value of $348,822 (all figures drawn from www.city-data.com).

A new, state-of-the-art High School and neighborhood magnet schools make Franklin a great place to educate children, producing a well-rounded, diverse student body that contributes to their local community and the world at large.

Great residents deserve a great place to live and relax – and Franklin offers plenty of room to explore. Through its Open Space program, the Township has been able to preserve over 9,000 acres – the crown jewel of which is Six Mile Run State Park, located in the heart of the Township.
