OPEN SPACE PROGRAM CONTINUES NATURE WALKS

The Township’s open space program will, for the sixth year in a row, sponsor guided nature walks on Township open space parcels.  Each walk will be led by a N.J. Audubon Society naturalist.  They are free to the public.

The sites to be visited are the two Native Grassland Preserves that the Township established for use by threatened and endangered species and for passive recreation and a forest walk on one of the newest trail systems in the township.  In June we will be looking for both migrants and resident nesting birds including grassland species:  Meadowlark, Bobolink, Field and Grasshopper Sparrow.  In July we will be looking at butterflies.

The walks are along easy terrain and are great for kids.  Bring binoculars, if you have them--and good footwear.  Some loaner binoculars may be available.
