PROJECT R.E.S.P.E.C.T.
What is Project R.E.S.P.E.C.T.?
Project R.E.S.P.E.C.T. was developed by the Chief of Police
Craig R. Novick. R.E.S.P.E.C.T. stands for Responsibility Ensuring
Senior Citizens and Police Enjoy Common Trust. The program was
developed to increase communications with Franklin Township Seniors
and to address their needs. Officers Brian Farrar, Jolanda Lacewell,
Emma Bascom, and Troy Lipp are currently assigned as Senior Liaison
Officers.
What programs are offered?

Franklin Township Safe Return Program.
The program is for individuals with Alzheimer's or illnesses
similar to Alzheimer's, who tend to wander away. These individuals
are registered with the Franklin Township Police Department
and a photo is taken of them, which is kept in a confidential
file at police headquarters. In the event the individual wanders
away or becomes disoriented away from home the Police Department
would have immediate access to the file, to providing information
for their safe return.
"File of Life" Program.
A medical information packet designed to provide emergency personnel
with necessary medical information to begin immediate treatment.
The "File of Life" refrigerator magnet is a red vinyl
packet containing a medical information card for each house
member. It also has a sticker which is placed on the front
door or window of the house to alert emergency personnel that
the file is used.
Senior Notification Network Program.
An automated system in which groups of seniors are notified of
meetings, special events, and special concerns.
Home Security Surveys.
A member of the Franklin Township Police Department will visit
your residence and provide suggestions on how to increase security
in your home. To schedule a survey contact your Senior Citizen
Liaison Officer.
Home/Phone Scam Lectures.
Lectures are provided to groups of seniors on how to avoid getting
caught in home repair or phone scams. These lectures are scheduled
at the request of your senior group leader.
Nursing
Home/Assisted Living Visits. A visit from Ofc. Bascom
and Bart the Project R.E.S.P.E.C.T. mascot. These visits can
be arranged by contacting Ofc. Bascom at (732) 873-5533 or any
Senior Citizen Liaison Officer.
Senior Citizen's Police Academy. This training is provided at Police Headquarters and is geared toward secior citizens. Blocks of instruction include personal safety, crimes against the elderly and police operations. This class meets once a week for 5 weeks.
