INCOME-QUALIFIED SENIORS GET BREAK ON WATER BILLS

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, New Jersey-October 13, 2003-The Township of Franklin Township Council passed an ordinance reducing the water rates for Senior Citizens on limited incomes.

Residents who are property owners and 65 years of age or older with an annual income of $10,000 or less qualify for the reduction. Also qualified are those residents who are disabled under any Federal law administered by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs or any state-approved program.

All senior citizens currently receiving the yearly deduction on property taxes are already approved and will automatically receive the reduction on their next bills.

To sign up for the program, residents should visit the Tax Collectors' office in the Municipal Building at 475 DeMott Lane, Somerset. For additional information, call 732-873-2500, ext. 337 or click here for the application form.
