The Township Council at their May 27, 2008 meeting issued the following commendations
· Winners of the Franklin Township Handwashing—It’s a SNAP! Winners. These included Hillcrest School (Teacher: Alexandra Thomas), Sampson G. Smith (Teachers: Silvia Strzeminski, Maria Samaras, and Kaz Wright), Pine Grove Manor School (Teacher: Audra Wood). The outstanding school was Sampson G. Smith (Principal: William Grippo). In addition, Ms. Wright’s Fifth Grade Class at Sampson G. Smith is the National Award Recipient for their handwashing rap song. Students from Ms. Wright’s class will be honored at an awards ceremony at the National Press Club in Washington DC on June 11.

· Franklin’s Shade Tree Commission and volunteers for their participation in the Township’s April 25, 2008 Arbor Day planting of 30 maple and flowering plum trees in Nassau Park.
