· The Township Council issued proclamations July 18, 2008 to the various organizations, committees, volunteers and employees who helped earn the distinction of FIFTH PLACE WINNER OUT OF THE TOP 100 in MONEY MAGAZINE’S list of America’s best small cities. “We didn’t lobby or ask for this honor but received it because of who we are,” Mayor Brian Levine said. There are many reasons for this award, including Franklin’s history, open space, business, diversity, schools, but especially the volunteers.

§ Somerset County Freeholders

§ Board of Education

§ Agricultural committee, historic commission and open space committee

§ Parks and Recreation Department

§ Local businesses

§ All volunteers for the many different organizations, committees and groups.
