GENERAL PURPOSE
Perform a variety of unskilled or semi-skilled maintenance work in the open spaces.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Cleans and paints fire hydrants.
• Insures the proper maintenance of tools by cleaning and checking after use.
• Drives pick-up trucks and assists in the loading, hauling and unloading of various equipment and supplies.
• Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
• Serves as a grounds-person on the crew as required and assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Some knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods and procedures used in maintenance, construction and repair activities.
• Skill in some of listed tools and equipment.
• Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time; ability to work safely; ability to communicate effectively, verbally; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public; ability to understand and carry out oral instructions.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
• Valid New Jersey Driver’s License.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
• Pickup truck, paint brush, wire brush, common hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, mobile radio.

• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 100 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
