2023 General Election Information

As the upcoming election approaches, we want to ensure that you have all the necessary information to exercise your right to vote. Your participation in the democratic process is fundamental to shaping the future of our community. Here are some important details about the election and how you can make your voice heard:

Election Date

The general election will be held on November 7.

Voter Registration:

If you have not registered to vote or need to update your voter registration information, the deadline for voter registration is October 17. You can register online at vote.nj.gov.

Voting Methods

*In-person Voting: On Election Day, Tuesday, November 7,  you can vote in person at your designated polling place. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. 

How to find your polling place: Check out the Polling locations section on the "voter information" page on the township website or visit vote.nj.gov (polling place search).

*Early Voting: Early voting will take place from October 28 to November 5. Eligible voters who have not requested a mail-in ballot may cast their vote during this period. Somerset County will have six locations from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday - Saturday and 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday during this period.  Early voting is considered a completed vote, and cannot be amended later. Top 5 Things to Know About Early Voting (English)Top 5 Things to Know About Early Voting (Spanish)

Somerset County’s early voting locations are:

  • Bernards Township - Bernards Township Community Center Garage, 289 South Maple Ave,  Basking Ridge
  • Bridgewater - Municipal Court, 100 Commons Way, Bridgewater
  • Franklin Township - Community Center, 505 DeMott Lane, Somerset
  • Hillsborough - Municipal Building, 379 South Branch Road, Hillsborough
  • Montgomery - Municipal Building, 2261 Route 206, Belle Mead
  • North Plainfield - North Plainfield Community Center, 614 Greenbrook Road, North Plainfield

*Mail-In Voting: If you prefer to vote by mail, you can request a mail-in ballot if you have not already done so. The deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot by mail is October 31. Any voter may apply for vote-by-mail by completing the Application for Vote-By-Mail Ballot and returning the application to your County Clerk.

Mail-in ballots may be mailed by US Post Office, at any of the 17 drop box locations throughout the County, or by visiting the Board of Elections at 20 Grove Street in Somerville. There is a Drop Box for Mail-In Ballots located in front of the Municipal Building, 475 DeMott Lane, Somerset.  The box will open until 8:00  p.m. on November 7. 

Please be aware that all drop boxes will be under video surveillance at all times!

Track Your Ballot

You can track the status of your mail-in ballot using the "Track My Ballot" service. Visit Track my ballotand sign into your account to monitor the progress of your ballot.

Poll workers are always needed:
