Increased Police Presence
Franklin Township (Somerset), NJ — The Franklin Township Police Department (FTPD) is aware of the attacks targeting a synagogue in Michigan as well as Old Dominion University in Virginia.
The Police Department will continue to maintain an enhanced police presence at local houses of worship, schools, and community centers. Residents can expect to see an increase in patrol activity, including both uniform and plain clothes officers.
Public Safety Director Lloyd Fredericks stated that when the conflict in the Middle East escalated, officers began conducting additional patrols at critical infrastructures throughout the township. These proactive measures will continue to ensure the safety of residents who are understandably concerned.
While there is no indication of an imminent threat of violence or danger to our community, we will be closely monitoring these events with our county, state, and federal partners to ensure the safety of our residents.
Anyone witnessing suspicious activity is encouraged to immediately report it by calling 9-1-1 in an emergency or 732-873-2300 for non-emergencies.
