An apartment complex located in the area of Camner Ave. was the victim of criminal mischief and false public alarms during the morning hours. The unknown suspect(s) emptied a fire extinguisher causing the building fire alarms to activate. As a result, the entire building was evacuated. The local FD responded and determined the building was safe to re-enter. The extinguisher was valued at $200.00.

Kevin D. Scott, 30, of Plainfield, NJ was arrested for an outstanding warrant out of Scotch Plains, NJ during a motor vehicle stop. Scott was processed and released on his own recognizance. “NOTE: We are required by the Rules of Court to include herein a statement explaining that the charges are merely an accusation, and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.”

A business located in the area of Elizabeth Ave. was the victim of a shoplifting during the afternoon hours. An unknown black male exited the store without paying for merchandise valued at $135.00. The suspect was stopped by loss prevention and the merchandise was recovered. The suspect fled the area in a Nissan Rogue.

A business located in the area of Commerce Dr. was the victim of a theft on 07/05/26. An unknown white male was captured on surveillance loading scrap metal from the property into a red pick-up. The scrap metal was valued at $100.00.

A business located in the area of Davidson Ave. was the victim of a burglary and theft on 07/06/26. Five unknown black males were captured on surveillance entering an unlocked door and stealing property valued at approximately $8,000.00. The suspects fled the area in a blue Nissan.

A business located in the area of Rt. 27 was the victim of a theft during the afternoon hours. Three unknown black males were captured on surveillance stealing used tires from the lot. The suspects fled the area in a Dodge van. The tires were valued at $1,800.00.

A business located in the area of Somerset St. was the victim of a burglary during the evening hours. Three males were observed on surveillance hopping a locked fence. The suspects proceeded to unlawfully enter three vehicles located on the property. Patrol responded and a foot pursuit was initiated by the suspects. One juvenile male was apprehended and charged with burglary, obstructing the administration of law, and resisting arrest. A Forth Worth, TX resident was the victim of a theft on 07/05/26 in the area of Davidson Ave. The unknown suspect(s) stole the victim’s personal property from his hotel room. The property was valued at $4,690.00.

A Somerset, NJ resident was the victim of theft by deception on 07/07/26. The victim received a text that her bank account was compromised. During a phone call, the victim was instructed by an unknown male to go to Walmart and send $2,500.00 to avoid further fraudulent activity. After doing so, the victim realized she was scammed. The suspect is believed to reside in Florida.

A business located in the area of Rt. 27 was the victim of a shoplifting during the afternoon hours. A Hispanic male and a white female exited the store without paying for merchandise valued at $135.00. The suspects fled the area in a Honda Accord. The suspects have been identified. The male is known as a frequent shoplifter.

Kevon St. Pierre, 18, of South Bound Brook, NJ was arrested for defiant trespassing during a welfare check investigation in the area of Elizabeth Ave. St. Pierre entered a residence without permission. St. Pierre was confronted by the homeowner and remained until the arrival of patrol. St. Pierre was processed and released on a summons. “NOTE: We are required by the Rules of Court to include herein a statement explaining that the charges are merely an accusation, and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.”

Gavin J. Sylvester, 44, of New Brunswick, NJ was arrested for burglary and theft during an investigation in the area of Davidson Ave. Sylvester entered a business and stole property valued at $350.00. Sylvester was processed and transported to the Somerset County Jail. “NOTE: We are required by the Rules of Court to include herein a statement explaining that the charges are merely an accusation, and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.”

A Somerset, NJ resident was the victim of theft by deception between 01/26 and 07/26. The victim sent approximately $200,000.00 to a male she met online. The suspect is allegedly a doctor overseas and requested financial assistance to return to the U.S. The victim believes the suspect is legitimate despite this being a common scam. The suspect has yet to return to the U.S.

A Middlesex, NJ resident was the victim of a theft and criminal mischief in the area of Cedar Grove Ln. during the evening hours. The unknown suspect(s) stole the victim’s motor vehicle after it was left unlocked with the keys inside. The victim tracked her motor vehicle to the area of Bolton Ct. The vehicle was located, unoccupied, with damage to the exterior. The damage was valued at $600.00.

The vehicle was entered stolen into a national database. Patrol located the vehicle, unoccupied, in the area of Pierce St. a few hours later. There were no signs of forced entry to the vehicle.

A Lancaster, PA resident was the victim of a theft in the area of Hempstead Dr. during the overnight hours. The unknown suspect(s) stole the victim’s vehicle. The vehicle was valued at $30,000.00 and entered stolen into a national database. The vehicle was later involved in a pursuit in a neighboring state.
