Franklin Day Festival Was An Even Bigger Success!

The Township of Franklin hosted its 5th Annual Franklin Day Festival (FDF) on September 22, 2018 at Colonial Park in Somerset. Over 20,000 people from throughout New Jersey were in attendance. The main and cultural stages showcased the best performances from new to seasoned talents. Groove City Band and Funktion 11 brought an eclectic sound to the main stage. Groove City Band, a seven-piece band of professional musicians, had the crowd raving about the rhythmic sounds that made them a music sensation for years. The crowd also grooved to Funktion 11, a formally-trained and world-class group of musicians that performed Jazz, Funk, R& B and Gospel music.

On the FDF cultural stage, Community Fellowship Mass Choir, Somerset Run Village Folk Dancers, Capoeira Maranhão, Inspira Performing Arts & Cultural Center, Saaj, Creative Minds, Modern Motion, Nehal Bajaj, Des Rangila, Bollywood Brothers, Desi Girls, Zachias Noble, Divyank Bajaj, Rutgers Community Christian Church Kung Fu, Rutgers Community Christian Church Traditional Dancing, and Evolution Dance Center graced the stage with a variety of performances including dance, instrumental music, song, martial arts, spoken word and more!CULTURAL STAGE (82)

The Franklin Day Festival also featured popular programs designed for children, adults, and seniors. The ArtWalk, an art exhibit situated in the center of the Festival, was curated by the Princeton Photography Club. It featured artwork created by individuals who submitted their work for the 2018 Franklin Day Festival ArtWalk juried exhibit as well as work by Franklin Township Public School students. The FDF Committee also added a reptile exhibit to the free Kid Zone. Popular attractions such as paddle boating, bouncy houses, a pickle ball demo & clinic, pony rides, a balloon artist, and the petting zoo were available for children of all ages.ARTWALK (12)

The attendees had over 100 vendors to choose from including several vendors from the Franklin Township Community Farmers Market. This year’s Festival featured close to two dozen food vendors offering everything from barbecue to dessert as well as FDF’s Classic Car Show. Every year, this Festival truly gets better and better!
