Franklin Township Environmental Commission is celebrating Earth Day each year with stream clean up in our neighborhood. It is annual tradition started by late John Clyde, former mayor. It has been the third clean up when we commemorate this inspiring man. Last Saturday, April 17th, we have organized annual stream clean up in Naaman Williams park. In partnership with Lower Raritan Watershed Partnership and the Watershed Institute, the EC has been joined by boys and girls scouts and we collected an incredible amount of various garbage, such as plastic and glass bottles, cans, plastic bags, food clam shells, cups, plates, styrofoam. All together at least 40 bags of trash, 35 of recyclables, bed frames, bricks, construction debris and 28 tires. 

Removing the debris will allow the storm water to flow easier through the wooded section of the park and not enter areas of the park designated for leisure, including the playground. Park clean up also restores the natural environment and enhances quality of life in our communities.

The EC would like to thank all volunteers for their hard work as well as our fellow residents to keep our environment clean.
