Please make sure that children are properly protected while traveling in a motor vehicle. Only the correct use of child car seats will offer the protection your child needs. There are over 70 different types of child car seats on the market today. Each one must meet federal standards and all provide good protection for your child when used correctly. The "right" seat for you is largely a matter of personal choice. Choose a seat that fits your child and your car, read the manufacturer's instructions carefully, and use the seat correctly on every trip.
Keep your child in the car seat for as long as possible, as long as the child fits within the manufacturer’s height and weight requirements.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA) recommends that your car seats be properly installed and inspected before driving with your child. It’s important to choose the proper child safety seat and even more important to have it installed correctly. Car crashes are a leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 13. Child seat safety inspections are available to the public at no charge. Anyone wishing to can make an appointment to come in and have a trained technician inspect and show them the correct way to install the car seat. To have your car seat inspected by a Franklin Township Traffic Safety officer you must fill out this form and we will contact you. We cannot accept walk in appointments at this time.
Although we do child inspections at FTPD there are other check points around the area that are at no cost to you!
